MEXC Review 2026: Fees & Funding

MEXC is a global centralized cryptocurrency exchange best known for two things that matter enormously to a funding-arbitrage trader: some of the lowest perpetual-futures fees in the entire industry, and the widest catalogue of early altcoin listings of any major venue. It launched in 2018, is headquartered in Victoria, Seychelles, and today serves more than 40 million users across 170+ countries with support for 3,000+ assets. Among centralized exchanges it consistently ranks in the global top ten by traded volume. For ORBIT users specifically, MEXC is the venue we point people toward first when they want the cheapest possible leg of a cross-exchange spread — disclosure: ORBIT has a partnership with MEXC, and the sign-up link in this review is a referral link, but the reason it sits at the top of our recommendations is the fee schedule, which is hard to beat anywhere.

What is MEXC?

MEXC is a centralized exchange in the classic sense. You create an account, deposit funds, and the exchange holds your assets and matches your orders on an internal, off-chain order book. That model is the opposite of an on-chain perp DEX like Hyperliquid or Lighter, and the trade-off is the one every CEX carries: you get deep liquidity, fast matching, fiat on-ramps and a polished mobile app, but you hand custody of your funds to the company and rely on it to stay solvent and to honour withdrawals. We are upfront about that further down — it is the single most important thing to understand before you fund any custodial account.

Where MEXC genuinely separates itself is breadth and price. It is the exchange that lists small-cap "gems" months before they reach Binance or Coinbase, which is why a large segment of altcoin traders keep an account there purely for access to tokens they cannot find elsewhere. Layer on a fee structure that is built around 0% maker fees and a taker fee in the low single basis points, plus an MX utility token that discounts fees further, and you have a venue optimised for high-frequency, low-margin strategies — exactly the profile of a delta-neutral funding trade, where every basis point of fee you avoid is a basis point of edge you keep.

This review covers everything a perp trader needs before opening an account: what MEXC is and how it is run, its key metrics, the product features that matter day to day, the MX token and the sign-up bonuses, the fee schedule in detail (and why it is the headline reason to use it), how funding works and how its rates compare to other venues on ORBIT, the security picture and the real risks of a custodial exchange, a step-by-step on getting started, and how it stacks up against Binance and Bybit for funding arbitrage.

MEXC key metrics (2026)

MEXC is one of the larger centralized exchanges by traded volume and one of the deepest by sheer number of listed markets — its perpetuals catalogue runs well into the hundreds, including many alts that simply do not have a perp on Binance or Bybit. The figures below are pulled live from ORBIT's own data so they never go stale: total open interest across the markets we track, 24-hour volume, the number of perpetual markets, the average funding across them, and the base fee. The second table shows the deepest individual MEXC markets by open interest — those majors are where you can realistically size into a delta-neutral position without heavy slippage, which matters far more for arbitrage than a headline funding number on a thin alt.

MEXC key features for traders

MEXC's feature set is built for two crowds: cost-sensitive high-frequency traders who care about fees above all else, and altcoin hunters who want to be first into a new listing. The tooling around the order book — futures modes, the early-listing pipeline, the MX token economy, copy trading and a full API — is what keeps both groups on the platform once they arrive.

Everything runs on a centralized matching engine, which means CEX-grade speed and liquidity on the majors, plus the conveniences a DEX cannot offer: fiat on-ramps, a customer-support desk, and a mobile app polished enough to manage positions from your phone.

• Industry-low futures fees: 0% maker and a taker fee in the low single basis points — among the cheapest of any major exchange, and the single biggest reason ORBIT recommends MEXC for the cheapest delta-neutral leg.
• Earliest altcoin listings: MEXC routinely lists small-cap tokens — and their perpetuals — months before larger venues, so it is the place to find a perp on an asset that does not exist on Binance or Bybit yet.
• Hundreds of perpetual markets: majors, large-caps and a very deep bench of alts, all USDT-margined, with new perps added constantly as listings roll out.
• Cross-margin and isolated-margin: run positions under a shared margin pool for capital efficiency, or isolate risk per position so one bad trade cannot cascade — useful when you hold one leg of a delta-neutral pair here.
• MX token fee discounts: holding MX in your account unlocks a tiered fee discount, and MX in the futures wallet can be used to offset trading fees further — pushing an already low cost base lower still.
• Sign-up and deposit bonuses: MEXC regularly runs new-user reward campaigns (bonus credits, fee-rebate vouchers and futures coupons) — claimable through the referral sign-up flow.
• Copy trading and bots: follow established futures traders or run grid/DCA bots directly on the platform, for users who want exposure without managing every entry by hand.
• Full API + fiat on-ramps: complete REST and WebSocket APIs for automated strategies, plus card and P2P fiat on-ramps to move money in and out — conveniences no on-chain DEX offers.

MEXC sign-up bonus & fee discount

MEXC does not have a points-and-airdrop farm in the pre-TGE sense that newer perp DEXs do — it is a mature, custodial CEX, so the "earn while you trade" angle here comes from two different places: the MX utility token and the exchange's recurring sign-up bonuses. Both are real, ongoing edges rather than a one-time speculative event, which suits a trader who plans to use the venue continuously.

MX is MEXC's native utility token, with a capped supply of 1 billion. Its core job is to discount your trading fees: hold MX in your account and you unlock a tiered discount on both spot and futures, and MX held in the futures wallet can additionally be used to offset fees on those trades. On top of the fee discount, MX holders get priority access to new token launches and exclusive launchpad and airdrop opportunities — which, on an exchange famous for early listings, is a meaningful perk. MX is also stakeable for rewards. For a funding trader the practical read is simple: if you are going to run volume through MEXC, holding enough MX to clip the fee discount pays for itself, because it lowers the cost base on every round trip. Treat any directional bet on the MX price as a separate decision from your arbitrage book.

The sign-up and deposit bonuses are the other half of the picture. MEXC runs frequent new-user campaigns — bonus credits, fee-rebate vouchers, and futures trading coupons — and these are claimable through the referral sign-up link in this review. The exact offer changes over time and varies by region and eligibility, so check the current terms when you register rather than relying on a number quoted here. Used sensibly, a fee-rebate voucher effectively makes your first batch of round trips even cheaper than the already-low base schedule, which is helpful while you are dialling in a new spread workflow.

MEXC trading fees

MEXC charges 1 bps taker and 0 bps maker on perpetuals. On a round-trip — entry and exit, and across two venues if you trade delta-neutral — those fees are the first thing any spread has to overcome. ORBIT's backtester subtracts both legs' taker fees plus live order-book slippage, so the PnL it shows is net, not headline.

This is the headline. MEXC's perpetual-futures fees are among the lowest of any major exchange: the maker fee is 0%, and the taker fee sits in the low single basis points — well below the industry norm and far below what you pay on most large CEXs, where taker fees of 4-5+ bps are common. For a delta-neutral funding strategy, where the spread you are harvesting can be only a handful of basis points wide, that fee gap is not a rounding error — it is the difference between a trade that clears its costs and one that does not. Hold MX for the tiered discount and the taker rate falls further still. The number that actually decides whether a trade works is the round trip across two venues: you pay taker on entry and exit on each leg, and a funding spread has to clear that total before a cent of it is yours — and MEXC's job in that equation is to make its side of it as close to free as a custodial exchange gets.

Funding rates on MEXC

MEXC settles funding every 8h. Funding is the payment between longs and shorts that anchors the perpetual to spot — and because every venue computes its own rate, the same asset can pay very differently on MEXC than on another exchange at the same moment. That gap is a tradeable, delta-neutral edge.

Is MEXC safe?

The most important thing to understand about MEXC is that it is a custodial centralized exchange. When you deposit, the company holds your funds and matches your trades on an internal order book — which means you are trusting MEXC to stay solvent, to secure its systems, and to honour withdrawals on demand. This is the fundamental counterparty risk that every CEX carries and that an on-chain DEX like Hyperliquid does not: the failure mode here is the company, not the code. It is the single biggest reason to keep only working capital on any exchange and to withdraw profits regularly.

On the operational side, MEXC has run since 2018 without a headline insolvency, employs the standard CEX security stack (cold storage for the bulk of reserves, two-factor authentication, withdrawal whitelists and anti-phishing controls), and offers a customer-support desk and account-recovery flows that a non-custodial venue simply cannot. For the majors, its liquidity is deep enough that you can enter and exit size with minimal slippage — and that depth, not the headline funding number, is what determines whether a thin spread is actually tradeable, because slippage on a forced exit can erase a week of funding in a single fill.

The honest caveats are the regulatory and custodial ones. MEXC holds relatively light top-tier regulatory licensing and explicitly restricts users in the US, the UK and several other regulated jurisdictions — you are responsible for checking that it is available and legal where you are. As with any custodial venue, your funds are only as safe as the exchange, so size accordingly, use 2FA and withdrawal whitelists, and never treat an exchange wallet as long-term cold storage.

MEXC risks and considerations

1. Custodial counterparty risk. MEXC holds your funds. If the exchange were ever hacked, became insolvent, or paused withdrawals, your assets would be at risk in a way they are not on a self-custody DEX. Keep only working capital on the venue and withdraw profits regularly — this is the defining risk of any CEX.
2. Regulatory and access risk. MEXC carries relatively light top-tier licensing and restricts US, UK and several other regulated markets. Rules can change, and access or specific features may be affected depending on where you are — you are responsible for your own compliance.
3. Thin-altcoin liquidity and listing risk. MEXC's great strength — early, broad altcoin listings — is also a risk: many of those small-cap perps are thinly traded and volatile, with wide spreads and the possibility of a delisting. Size into majors for arbitrage and treat exotic alts with caution.
4. MX token volatility. If you hold MX for the fee discount or as a bet, it is a volatile asset and can draw down sharply. Holding it is a separate, directional decision from trading perps delta-neutral, and it should be sized as one.
5. Per-leg liquidation risk. In a delta-neutral pair the danger is not market direction but one leg moving against you before you rebalance — if your short leg gets liquidated, you are suddenly net long. Conservative leverage and active monitoring of the mark price on both venues are essential.

How to get started with MEXC

1. Open MEXC and create an account with email or phone. Basic spot and futures trading is available with light limits; complete KYC if you want full limits and higher withdrawals.
2. Enable two-factor authentication and set a withdrawal whitelist before you deposit — these are the two settings that matter most on any custodial exchange.
3. Deposit USDT as margin (via crypto transfer, card or P2P), and consider holding enough MX to clip the fee discount if you plan to run real volume. Start small while you learn the futures interface and choose isolated margin until you are comfortable with cross-margin.
4. Open the Funding Screener and find an asset where MEXC's funding diverges from another venue; MEXC is tracked on ORBIT and the sign-up link is in the Trade tab.
5. Confirm the net edge in the backtester — it replays real funding history and subtracts fees plus live slippage — then open equal long/short legs and collect the spread each settlement window.

MEXC vs Binance

Two comparisons come up most often, and both flatter MEXC on cost. Against Binance, the largest exchange in the world, the trade-off is liquidity and brand depth (Binance) versus markedly lower fees and a far broader early-listing catalogue (MEXC) — for a fee-sensitive funding strategy, MEXC's near-zero maker and low taker schedule is the deciding factor, which is why ORBIT recommends it as the cheaper leg of a Binance/MEXC pair. Against Bybit, a derivatives-focused CEX with a strong futures product, the contrast is similar: comparable execution quality, but MEXC undercuts on fees and lists more alts earlier. In both cases the two venues settle funding on the same 8-hour cadence, so the spread you harvest comes from the rate divergence on the same asset rather than from an interval mismatch — exactly the kind of gap the Funding Screener surfaces in real time.

MEXC is also frequently weighed against Bybit — see the MEXC vs Bybit comparison for the full breakdown.

MEXC review: verdict

MEXC is the venue ORBIT recommends first when the priority is cost, and it earns that spot honestly: 0% maker fees, a taker fee in the low single basis points, the broadest early-altcoin catalogue of any major exchange, an MX token that discounts fees further, and recurring sign-up bonuses on top. For delta-neutral funding arbitrage, where edges are measured in basis points, that fee schedule is close to ideal — it makes the MEXC side of a pair about as cheap as a custodial exchange gets. The honest counterweight is that it is a custodial CEX with light regulatory licensing and restricted markets, so it carries the counterparty risk that every centralized exchange does: keep only working capital on it, use 2FA and withdrawal whitelists, and withdraw profits regularly. Pair MEXC with a higher- or lower-funding venue, confirm the net edge in the backtester, and keep leverage sane on both sides — and you have one of the cheapest, deepest legs available for the job.
